Kartarpur corridor opening - sidhu gets permission to travel Pakistan on November 9

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has been granted permission to visit Pakistan at the inaugural ceremony of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on November 9.
According to sources, the Centre has granted him political clearance travel to Pakistan. However, sources have said, that he may only travel as part of the first jatha going from India to Pakistan for the pilgrimage to Kartarpur Gurudwara, which is the final resting place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev.
The first jatha will also include Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and former Pm Manmohan Singh, who will be travelling to Pakistan not as political leaders but as religious pilgrims.
The permission has come through after Sidhu wrote three letters requesting the Centre's clearance over his visit.
Navjot Singh Sidhu had faced political wrath after he had hugged Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa during the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan in August last year.
Sidhu had then claimed that General Bajwa had told him about "efforts to open the Kartarpur corridor".
On November 4, he had received an invitation from Khan bearing the serial number '0001' on an invitation card for the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor.
